The flood situation in Nagaon district is still grim. The overflowing water of the Kapili river inundated more villages under Kampur and Raha revenue circles since midnight on Sunday last and affected over 15,417 population of those two revenue circles in the district.
Besides, the flood water also submerged over 5,387 hectares of cropland in those two revenue circles and also affected more than 7,400 domestic animals in both the revenue circles.
Further, the overflowing water from the Kapili river submerged and also eroded several places on four important surface routes for transportation in Kampur revenue circle like Kuhimari to Simlaipathor road, Kochuwa Tiniali to Balukaguri road, Kuwariati to Dhemajigaon road and Changchaki to Bakulaguri road respectively.
Meanwhile, the state water resource minister Pijush Hazarika along with a dozen of officials from the water resource department as well as Nagaon deputy commissioner Nisarg Hivare visited various flood ravaged areas in Kampur and Raha revenue circles on Monday morning and reviewed the situation.
During his visit, the minister directed the officials concerned to take all possible measures to curb the situation and ordered to leave no stone unturned to protect the people at any cost.
While speaking to the media persons here at Kampur, the minister said that the government had already sanctioned over Rs 20 crore for construction as well as repair of the Bhalbhaliagaon river embankment.
