Dispur, June 20: Minister for Transport, Fisheries and Excise, Parimal Suklabaidya on Sunday visited and inspected several flood affected areas under Dholai constituency of Cachar district on Sunday.
With several areas reeling under flood water, Minister Suklabaidya reached out to the people wading through knee deep water to take stock of their conditions. He visited several areas severely affected by the deluge under Borjelenga, Narsingpur and Palonghat development blocks to take stock of the situation. The Minister inquired about the wellbeing of the people and the kind of relief and rehabilitation activities carried out in their areas.
Interacting with the flood stricken people, Minister Suklabaidya said the Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Dr.Himanta Biswa Sarma is leaving no stone unturned to get rid of their woes and to provide succour to them. He urged the people to remain alert and to exercise caution at a time when the rivers are in spate.
He said that several parts of the state have been hit by the deluge forcing many to leave their hearths and to move to the relief camps opened up by the Government.
Assuring wholehearted support from the Government, Suklabaidya urged the gaon panchayat presidents and the party functionaries to be with the people at this crucial juncture by rendering all possible assistance and to augment the Government’s efforts to tide over the situation.
The Minister was accompanied by Magistrate, Kishan Choren, Member, Madhya Dholai Zilla Parishad, Sashanka Chandra Paul, Anchalk President, Borjelenga development block, Subodh Das, President, Dholai Gaon Panchayat, Bhusan Paul, President, BJP Narsingpur Mandal, Lalbahadur Kurmi, President, Derby Gaon Panchayat, Pradip Kanu, Anchalik President, Panibhora Gaon Panchayat, Jayanta Paul, Anchalik President, Jibangram Gaon Panchayat, Sanjoy Koiri, among others.
On Monday, Minister Suklabaidya inspected the flood affected areas near Itkhola in Silchar and interacted with the shop owners.
General Secretary, Cachar District BJP, Shashanka Chandra Paul, Secretary, Soumitra Kumar Deb, CZP Engineer, Cachar Siddhartha Bhattacharjee and others were present.
