Assam Minister for Handloom and Textile, Sericulture, Soil Conservation and Welfare of bodoland department and Guardian Minister of Chirang district Urkhao Gwra Brahma on Tuesday launched the project ‘Rengoni’ undertaken by Bongaigaon Refinery under the initiative of Chirang district administration for providing free LPG connections to government schools for PM- Poshan scheme (Mid Day Meal), in a function held at the Refinery Club cum Community Centre (RCCC), BGR, Dhaligaon.
The minister ceremonialy distributed LPG gas connections to 932 schools of Chirang district funded under CSR/CER initiative of IOCL Refinery, Chirang.
In his speech, the Minister hoped that this project would help in achieving clean environment and sustainable development of educational institutions of thr Chirang District.
All 1040 schools in Chirang will have a twin LPG gas cylinder connection and a improvised cooking stove.
It is worth mentioning that LPG connections have been provided to schools for cooking mid-day meals with the aim of keeping our environment pollution free and providing healthy working conditions to more than 3200 cooks cum helpers of Chirang District.
During programme, Rwngwra Narzary, Member of Parliament (RS) inaugurated 121 Anganwadi centres constructed under MGNREGA, 2021-22.
District Administration Chirang expresses gratitude to IOCL, Chirang for providing helping hand to the schools of Chirang district.
The programme was also graced by Bijni MLA Ajoy Kr Roy, Sidli MLA Jayanta Basumatary, Chirang Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah, Chirang Superintendent of Police Pranjit Borah, Chief General Manager, IOCL, Bongaigaon Refinery Nayan Kumar Barua.
