In a horrific incident reported from Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, a woman by allegedly gang-raped by her husband and his friends after her family could not dowry demand. The incident took place in Chakeri area of the district.
A case has been registered against victim’s husband and his friends at Chakeri police station.
The woman got married to the accused on March 2020. The victim alleged that her in-laws used to demand a car and Rs 2 lakh as dowry since she got married to the accused, according to a report in Times of India.
The survivor further alleged that her in-laws and husband used to lock her in a room when their demand was not met.
The woman claimed one day she was gang raped by her husband and his three friends. “When I resisted, he even tried to set me ablaze by pouring petrol on me,” the woman claimed.
“We have registered a case based on a complaint and action is being taken,” the reported quoted Shailendra Singh, SHO, Chakeri police station.
In another incident reported from Bundi district of Rajasthan, a 45-year-old man was booked for allegedly raping his 15-year-old daughter for nearly two years.
The minor victim is a class 8 student. She narrated her ordeal to an Anganwadi worker who then informed police. Later, a case was registered under sections of Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Kapren police station.
