IG Gurpreet Deo said on Sunday that a man from Shimla is the accused in the alleged video scandal case that reportedly occurred in Chandigarh University. While speaking at a press conference, IG Gurpreet Deo said, “A man from Shimla is known to the accused girl. Only after he is caught, more details will be known.”

IG Deo further mentioned that a forensic probe of the arrested girl’s mobile phone will be conducted, news agency ANI reported.

Police responded quickly to the incident after knowing about the protests and arrested the female student who is accused of shooting the alleged viral videos.

According to reports, a case has been filed against her at the Gharuan police station under Sections 354 c of the IPC and the IT Act.

“The girl student has been arrested and the situation is under control now. The agitation has been called off and the students have gone to their hostel. Further information will be provided by the university authorities,” said a watchman of the varsity speaking to Times Network.

Meanwhile, Dr RS Bawa, Pro-Chancellor of Chandigarh University said that “there have been no videos found of any student which are objectionable except a personal video shot by a girl which was shared by herself to her boyfriend.”

Dr RS Bawa also said that a preliminary investigation was conducted by the university and the allegations of 60 objectionable MMS videos being leaked ‘is totally false and baseless.’

After the alleged video scandal case came to light, students of Chandigarh University said on Sunday that they had complained regarding the matter but authorities did not take any action. The students further alleged that the University authorities threatened to suspend those who were protesting.
