Mumbai woman gang-raped, private parts burnt

 In yet another horrific incident, a 42-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by three persons. The accused trio break into her residence and attacked her with a sharp weapon before sexually assaulting her. The survivor suffered burn injuries on her private parts after being tortured using cigarettes
The incident took place in Kurla in the early hours of Wednesday, news agency PTI, a Mumbai police official as saying on Sunday. The accused men lived not far from the woman’s home.
“The accused raped her one by one and also performed unnatural sex. They singed her private parts with cigarettes and attacked her with a sharp weapon on the chest and both arms. One of the accused filmed the incident and threatened to circulate it if she approached police,” the police officer told PTI.
The incident came to light after the woman opened up to her neighbours, who in turn contacted an NGO to get an FIR registered with the Kurla police.
The trio has been charged under Indian Penal Code sections 376 (rape), 376D (gang rape), 377 (unnatural sex), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon) and other offences and efforts were on to nab them, he said.
Earlier this month, two boys were held for allegedly raping their 13-year-old classmate inside the classroom of a civic-run school in the Matunga area of Mumbai.
According to the police, the incident took place on November 28, Monday. The girl, a student of class 7, was sexually assaulted by her two classmates during a school programme. The other students were away for a dance practice section when the crime took place.
The girl was about to follow others to the school hall when she was stopped by the accused two. “The two accused indulged in the crime by taking advantage of the situation,” an official of Matunga police station said.
