Guwahati, Assam – Northeast India’s first web3 social initiative, ‘Web3Assam’, was officially launched on the 28th of January 2023 at the Shardeum Proof of Community meetup in the Computer Science Department of Gauhati University, Guwahati.
The Proof of Community meetup was attended by the CS department students & faculty members, web3 enthusiasts around Assam, and members of the community.
Loveneesh Dhir, Committer, Shardeum, gave a welcome note and an introduction to Shardeum, its underlying technology, and how the community is the CEO of the project.
Jesu Neelkamal Borah, the initiator of Web3Assam, presented the community’s roadmap, including meetups in Guwahati and other cities, establishing Web3 clubs in colleges and universities, hosting workshops and hackathons, organizing NFT art fairs and music concerts in person, assisting Web2 companies in adopting Web3 technology, and launching a coworking space for the Web3 community.
A hands-on session to claim 100 $SHM tokens + POAP giveaway was conducted by Loveneesh where he showed how to claim 100 SHM (Shardeum token is called Shard or ‘SHM’) testnet tokens with simple instructions.
Two guest speakers, Lohit Boruah and Bristin Borah gave sessions on the basics of NFT and Career opportunities in Web3 respectively.
The meetup ended with a Twitter contest, where selected top 10 winners were given Shardeum’s merchandise T-shirts.
