Autobiographical book ‘Jalukbarit Mur Xunuwali Otit’ launched

Recently, an event was organised at the Jubilee Hall auditorium in Sector-3, Noonmati, Guwahati, to celebrate the release of the autobiographical book ‘Jalukbarit Mur Xunuwali Otit’ by acclaimed author Saurav Kumar Das. Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury, former Vice-Chancellor of Gauhati University and renowned reciter, released the eagerly awaited ‘Jalukbarit Mur Xunuwali Otit’ on the occasion, which exquisitely evokes the golden memories of the seventies spent in Jalukbari, also known as the country of Krishnachura.

“The author has been able to wonderfully capture the image of the good old days of the 1970s as a mark of reverence to Gauhati University,” the renowned educationist said in his keynote speech. He stated that by writing such an autobiographical work, an author will have the opportunity to enter the new literature that is being produced all over the globe. Author Saurav Kumar Das stated during his address that many well-known Assamese cricketers were born in Jalukbari. The substance of production can be viewed here.

The book launch event, presided over by the noted writer Liladhar Hazarika, started with the lighting of the traditional lamp by social activist Kumudram Bora. It was followed by a recitation of poems by Cotton University Professor Dr Mala Dutta. The function saw a number of celebrities, including eminent musician Suryya Goswami, former Assistant Director of Akashvani Guwahati Center Abani Ranjan Pathak, eminent lyricist Benudhar Kalita, former captain of the Assam cricket team Bimal Bharali, Professor of Guwahati College Dr. Dinesh Kakati, Gautam Kumar Das, General Manager, Indian Oil Corporation (Pipeline) among others.

It has to be noted that the 84-page book by Saurav Kumar Das, a thoughtful, insightful writer and an officer with the Indian Oil Corporation, has been published by Sagarika-Anamika Prakashan of Guwahati.
