Jorhat: The Jorhat district unit of AJYCP (All Assam Students’ Union) organized a sit-in protest in front of the Jorhat deputy commissioner’s office complex on Thursday. They demanded the dismissal of the BJP-led government under Chief Minister N Biren Singh in Manipur. Carrying banners and placards, the protestors called for the imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur, citing the government’s failure to maintain law and order.

Expressing deep concern over the loss of lives and property resulting from the ongoing ethnic clashes in Manipur, which have persisted for over a month, the student organization submitted a memorandum to the President of India through the Jorhat DC’s office. The memorandum outlined their grievances and urged for immediate action.

The protestors also criticized the Prime Minister for his silence on the matter, highlighting the inconsistency between his frequent references to the northeastern region in his speeches and his lack of response to the situation in Manipur.
