We the Residents and Business Owners of Chabipul, Bilpar locality has come together on 03.09.2023 to protest the renovation of the Garbage Transfer Station run by the Guwahati Municipality Corporation. We the people here have been requesting the GMC to relocate this Garbage Transfer Station to any other locality since January 2023 and has submitted a memorandum to the Commissioner, GMC and sought his kind intervention and to be noted that, we have met with the Joint Commissioner of GMC along with senior citizens and affected families in this regards but till date nothing has happened to alleviate our pitiable condition. This Garbage Station is a nuisance and Health Hazard as it’s full of pollutants and other harmful bacteria, Viruses etc.
The Chaotic condition has made our lives miserable. The road connects Various Educational Institutions, Hospitais etc. and use by commuters of nearby areas and we all have to face its pathetic condition every day which can’t be defined until and unless someone face it. This station is purely in a residential area and the families residing near it has to live with chaos, Stench, mud during rains. Now, instead of relocating it, the GMC has started renovating it without giving any heed to our requests/protests therefore we all have joined our hands to fight it till a logical conclusion and it’s also being decided to submit another memorandum to the Commissioner GMC and other democratic ways of protest.
