Guwahati, November 24, 2023: Xahid Khan, an acclaimed Indian filmmaker behind the celebrated shorts like “Alert – Condition: Red,” “Mistake,” “Pins & Needles,” and “Bakshobondi Kotha,” has once again carved his name into the international film scene. His latest creation, “Guess the Pervert,” has been officially selected for its premiere at the prestigious Knowmad Short Film Festival 2023 in Germany.
The festival, organized by the renowned Knowmad Institut of Germany in collaboration with the esteemed North Luzon Cinema Guild Inc. of the Philippines, aims to foster intercultural exchange and spotlight alternative narratives that reflect the current state of Culture of Peace and Human Dignity.
Khan, born in a small village in Dhubri, Assam, expressed his excitement and gratitude about the selection of his film for this esteemed festival. Known for his innovative storytelling, Khan’s journey in the film industry started with his 2015 Hindi film, “Sand – The Love Without Trust,” which gained popularity among audiences in the villages of Assam through mobile theaters.
His breakthrough came with “Alert – Condition: Red,” which received international recognition, including being a semi-finalist in the Academy Awards Qualifying Film Festival “Best of Short Film Festival, Los Angeles.” Khan’s accolades continued to grow with his recent work, “Mistake,” winning Best Film awards at various international film festivals, including the Emirates Short Film Festival ’19 in Dubai.
In an exclusive interview with Guwahati Times, Khan expressed his delight, saying, “I’m thrilled that our film will have a premiere at a wonderful festival! We initially submitted it to bigger festivals, including the Knowmad Short Film Festival, and to our delight, it got selected by this German festival organized by the prestigious ‘Knowmad Institut’ of Germany and the respected ‘North Luzon Cinema Guild, Inc. of the Philippines.’ This news has filled me with excitement and positive vibes.”
Speaking about his ongoing projects, Khan revealed, “Currently, I’m busy with a few projects. One of them, titled ‘Unnamed,’ is in the post-production phase. Additionally, I’ve just completed the screenplay for another short film written by the talented Sarbojit Choudhury, an award-winning writer from West Bengal. We’re on the lookout for a producer for this project, and once we find one, we’ll be all set to kick off the production.”
