While visiting India, Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk had an exciting jungle safari at Assam’s Kaziranga National Park on Saturday. This marked the second day of his three-day trip to Assam. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his happiness on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “I’m pleased to hear that His Majesty the King of Bhutan enjoyed the rich biodiversity of Kaziranga National Park in Assam. We eagerly look forward to hosting His Majesty and his family, who will undoubtedly be enchanted by Kaziranga’s beauty.”
On the previous day, the Bhutanese King met with CM Sarma. The meeting, characterized by mutual respect and a shared vision, emphasized the deep-rooted connections between the two neighboring nations. Himanta Biswa Sarma shared on X, “I had the privilege of meeting His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the King of Bhutan, in Guwahati. We have greatly benefited from His Majesty’s vision. I conveyed the enthusiasm of our people to strengthen the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s doctrine of Neighbourhood First.” The two leaders also discussed infrastructure partnerships, healthcare cooperation, shared spiritual heritage, and people-to-people ties.
Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed on X, “The visit of Druk Gyalpo is a great honor for Assam. This visit serves as evidence of the longstanding bonds between our countries, demonstrated through academic connections, infrastructure collaborations, healthcare cooperation, shared spiritual heritage, and people-to-people ties.”
Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk, who arrived in India on Friday, began his three-day tour of Assam with a visit to the Kamakhya Temple atop the Nilachal Hills in Guwahati.
