Guwahati, April 28: In a spectacular showdown at the 16th National Junior Roll Ball Championship, Assam’s girls seized the spotlight, clinching victory over Tamil Nadu in a resounding 9-3 triumph. Namrata led the charge with 4 goals, supported by Kuki and Mishka with 2 goals each, and Kristy contributing 1 goal, showcasing a stellar team effort.
En route to their crowning moment, Assam Girls displayed their prowess, overpowering Chhattisgarh in the semi-finals with a convincing 7-3 win, following an impressive 5-0 victory over RSSA in the quarter-finals.
Throughout the league matches, Assam demonstrated their dominance, securing wins against various opponents including Jammu & Kashmir (3-1), Punjab (11-1), Daman and Diu (10-0), Tamil Nadu (5-0), and Uttar Pradesh (6-2).
In the boys’ division, Assam claimed the bronze medal, battling fiercely to overcome Tamil Nadu in the quarter-finals with a score of 4-3, before succumbing to Uttar Pradesh in the semi-finals (3-11).
The 16th edition of the championship, which commenced on April 25, featured 28 teams in the boys’ category and 24 in the girls’, including representation from Ladakh and Puducherry. The event, hosted in Dehradun, concluded today.
Bhumidhar Barman, General Secretary of the Assam Roll Ball Association, expressed unwavering faith in the teams’ performance, lauding their exceptional skills and indomitable spirit which captivated spectators and served as a beacon of inspiration throughout the championship.
