More than Rs 5 lakh were looted from a businessman on Friday evening in Dousal village, Nalbari. Jakir Hussain, a shoe business owner, was traveling home on his motorcycle with the day’s earnings when the incident occurred.
Reports indicate that three youths on a motorcycle chased Hussain and shot him in the leg before stealing his money bag and fleeing the scene in the evening sunlight.
Police from the Dousal Outpost are investigating the incident but have yet to make any arrests. The superintendent of police, Nalbari, was also present at the scene. Local residents, concerned and frightened by the daylight robbery, are demanding the immediate arrest of the criminals involved.
