Van Mahotsav organised by Gauhati University NSS Cell

PALASBARI,July 1: Gauhati University National Service Scheme Cell and GU Unit kick off Van Mahotsav today at GU campus.
Van Mahotsab is held from 1st to 7th April every year as per the directives of the Forest Department of the Government of Assam. . The program was inaugurated by Dr. Ranjan Kumar Kakati, Director of Students’ Welfare and NSS Program Coordinator, Gauhati University by planting a berry sapling. Dr. Kakati explained the benefits of tree plantation and its impact on global warming.
The week-long program is planned to plant 300 tree saplings at various places. GU NSS Cell has been conducting a major program “Let’s make the Hills Green” for the last four years and this year too trees will be planted in the empty spaces of the hills. Dr. Rituporna Bora, NSS Program Officer, GUNSS Unit and NSS volunteers also planted trees today.
