Pune, Maharashtra – 14th September: The Assam boys’ roll ball team clinched the Bronze medal at the 17th Sure Junior National Roll Ball Championship held in Pune. The tournament saw participation from 28 states across India, with Uttar Pradesh emerging as the champions, Jharkhand securing the first runner-up position, and Assam finishing as the second runner-up.
The Assam boys showcased a dominant performance in the league stage with the following results:
– Assam 7, Haryana 0
– Assam 8, Chhattisgarh 3
– Assam 9, Karnataka 0
– Assam 9, Bihar 3
– Assam 7, Daman & Diu 3
– Tamil Nadu 4, Assam 3
In the knockout rounds, Assam triumphed over Odisha with a score of 9-5 in the quarter-finals but faced a setback in the semi-finals, losing to Uttar Pradesh by 5-8. Despite the semi-final defeat, the team’s strong showing throughout the tournament earned them the bronze medal.
