Berlin, Germany – The vibrant annual cultural conference of the Assamese diaspora in Europe, Axom Milon, is all set to make its return in 2024. This year, the event will be held in Berlin from October 4th to October 6th, 2024, marking a significant occasion for the Assamese community across the continent.
Since its inception in 2010, Axom Milon has served as a crucial platform for Assamese people living in Europe to reconnect with their cultural roots. The conference, which rotates among various European countries, has previously been hosted in Germany, Liechtenstein, Austria, the Netherlands, and Italy. The primary objective of Axom Milon is to celebrate and sustain the rich cultural heritage of Assam by bringing together the Assamese community, along with their European spouses and friends.
The 2024 edition of Axom Milon promises to be the largest yet, with around 250 participants already registered, a testament to the event’s growing popularity. Attendees will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a variety of cultural activities, experience local Assamese products, and engage in meaningful exchanges that strengthen their ties to Assam. The event also fosters collaboration with partner organizations that showcase Assamese cultural themes and products.
The community spirit and enthusiasm surrounding Axom Milon can also be seen online, where participants and interested individuals connect through a dedicated Facebook group. The group is called Asomiya in Europe.
As preparations for the 2024 event continue, anticipation is building for what is expected to be the most significant Axom Milon yet. The organizers invite all Assamese in Europe and their family members to join the celebration in Berlin, ensuring that the culture and traditions of Assam continue to thrive across borders. Registration for the event is still open.
