United Peoples’ Party Liberal (UPPL) held a joining program on Friday, welcoming 1,174 new members from various party organizations. The event, organized by the Banargaon block committee, UPPL, marks a notable expansion for the party.
Party president and Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro expressed his enthusiasm during the ceremony, welcoming the new members and emphasizing the UPPL’s commitment to the people. Boro assured that the concerns of the Banargaon constituency will be addressed promptly, highlighting that significant progress has already been made on various initiatives. “In the coming months, we expect UPPL’s support in 40 BTC constituencies to increase by 60-70 percent,” he stated.
In a show of cultural pride, Boro also praised the recognition of the Assamese language as a “Classical language,” commending the scholars and advocates behind the achievement. He expressed hope for similar recognition of the Bodo language in the future.
Additionally, Boro announced that 13 out of 21 food items submitted for GI tagging have successfully received their tags, with the remaining eight expected to follow suit soon.
The event attracted several prominent figures, including BTC executive members Ranjit Basumatary and Wilson Hasda, as well as UPPL General Secretary Raju Narzary, marking a momentous occasion for the party and its expanding base in the region.
