Guwahati, October 18:A woman named Supriya Bhattacharya was arrested in Margherita, Tinsukia, Assam, on Thursday for allegedly killing her five-year-old son, Abhimanyu Chakraborty. The tragic incident came to light after the boy was reported missing during the Durga Puja festivities last week.
Following the child’s disappearance, his parents approached the police and lodged a complaint. On Monday, a child’s body was discovered near the banks of the Buridihing River. The body was later identified as that of Abhimanyu.
After investigating the case, the police suspected Supriya’s involvement in the crime. She was detained and later arrested.
The police are continuing their investigation into the case, looking into the details surrounding the incident and the possible motive behind the alleged crime.
