Assam Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee Visits Chirang to Review Government Projects
Chirang, July 7: A seven-member delegation from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Assam Legislative Assembly, led by Hon’ble Chairman Nurul Huda, visited Chirang district on Monday to assess the progress and implementation of various government development projects.
The committee comprised legislators Ramendra Nath Kalita, Bhabendra Nath Bharali, Utpal Bora, Karim Uddin Borbhuiya, Hafiz Bashir Ahmed, and Abdur Rashid Mandal, alongside the Chairman.
The PAC team conducted extensive field visits to monitor the quality, timelines, and progress of ongoing infrastructure and welfare projects, including Kajalgaon Stadium, Tribal Guest House, Sidli-Kashikotra Higher Secondary School (under construction), Flood protection works along the Right Bank of River Ai benefiting villages such as Durgapur, Birengaon, and Dangaigaon Irrigation canal with slab culvert at Anthaibari Muslimbosti (under MGNREGA), Champaboti Mahal No. 2, and other government scheme locations.
During the inspection, the PAC members closely evaluated the execution status, quality of construction, and use of public funds, reiterating the committee’s role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficiency in government spending.
After the field visits, a detailed review meeting was held at the DC’s Conference Hall in Chirang, where the committee interacted with key district officials and project stakeholders.
Among those present were Chirang Deputy Commissioner Jatin Bora, Additional Secretaries Sushama Hazarika and Arup Kumar Sarma, Joint Secretary Deergha Baruah, Under Secretary Fakhar Uddin Chowdhury, and other senior administrative and departmental officials.
