Children’s day celebrated at Bhurapara LP School
PALASBARI,Nov 14: The birth anniversary of independent India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was observed as Children’s day at 300 No. Bhurapara Lower Primary School under Rampur revenue village on Friday. The programme was organised by Bichitra Kumar Nyas, Palasbari.
The commemorative meeting was presided over by the Nyas president and journalist, Bimal Sharma. The purpose of the event was explained by assistant teacher Geeta Basumatary Gogoi.
Attending as the chief guest, retired head teacher and senior journalist Anil Kalita highlighted Nehru’s academic brilliance, patriotism, popularity, and his deep affection for children.
Speeches were also delivered by Nyas secretary Bichitra Kumar, school teacher Ananta Das, and students Jina Goswami, Manashi Das, and Dhiraj Kumar Das.
As part of the cultural segment, students performed two popular songs — ‘Ma Ami Sadiyale Jame’ by noted artist Khagen Mahanta and ‘Mayabini’ by popular singer Zubeen Garg. A group dance was also performed by the girl students.
Earlier, the programme commenced with a floral tribute to Pandit Nehru’s portrait, led by headmaster Kailash Das. Senior citizens of Bhoorapara, including Jibeshwar Das and Lohit Das, teachers Sashimoni Sharma and Mira Medhi and several others took part in the homage ceremony.
