Haiwaan Struggles at Box Office, Earns ₹7.35 Crore in Opening Weekend

MUMBAI: Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s latest film Haiwaan has had a disappointing start at the box office, collecting an estimated ₹7.35 crore net in India during its first three days.

The film earned around ₹1.85 crore on Sunday, September 13, registering a 26% drop from its Saturday collection of ₹2.50 crore. The modest growth over the opening weekend has raised concerns over the film’s performance in the days ahead.

Haiwaan marks the return of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan as a lead pair after several years. The two actors were previously seen together in the 2008 film Tashan.

The film has also faced strong competition at the box office. It reportedly lost around 1,400 screens to Hanuman Ansh during the opening weekend, affecting its show count across several markets.

Sunday occupancy for the Hindi 2D version stood at around 17.13%, indicating limited audience turnout despite the weekend advantage.

The film has earned approximately ₹75 lakh from overseas markets during its first three days, adding to its overall theatrical collection.

Directed by Priyadarshan, Haiwaan features Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar in the lead roles, with Boman Irani also playing a key character. The thriller has been one of the more anticipated releases featuring the two veteran actors together.

However, Haiwaan has struggled to match the strong theatrical performances of some of the other films currently running in cinemas. Mirzapur The Movie, in particular, continues to maintain a strong presence at the box office.

With the crucial weekday collections now underway, Haiwaan will need a significant improvement in audience turnout to regain momentum and strengthen its overall theatrical run.
