Jayanta Malla Baruah Highlights Major Push to Strengthen Assam’s Education Infrastructure

Assam Cabinet Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah shared a significant update on the state’s education sector, underlining the Assam Government’s sustained commitment to creating modern, student-friendly learning environments across the state.

Quoting the vision of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, he wrote:

“My dear nieces and nephews, very soon I will dedicate 67 new schools for you. These will be temples of learning equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. Study well and move ahead in life.”
Himanta Biswa Sarma

Placing special emphasis on the development of educational infrastructure, the Hon’ble Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in the presence of the Hon’ble Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, today inaugurated 67 newly constructed school buildings and laid the foundation stones for 62 more school buildings.
These initiatives were carried out under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme, the Prime Minister’s Development Initiatives for the North Eastern Region, and the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund. The central programme was held at Sonapur in Kamrup (Metro), aiming to lay a strong and sustainable foundation for quality education across Assam.

Following the Chief Minister’s programme, further important steps were taken towards strengthening the educational ecosystem of Nalbari:

  • The new building of PM SHRI Ghograpar Higher Secondary School was inaugurated and inspected, with meaningful interactions held with teachers, students, parents, school management committee members, and local residents.

  • The foundation stone of the new building of PM SHRI Dhamdhama Higher Secondary School was laid, and the gathering was addressed.

Through these initiatives, the Assam Government continues to reinforce its focus on educational development at the grassroots level—ensuring improved infrastructure, better learning environments, and greater opportunities for students to study, grow, and build a brighter future.
