KVIC Disburses ₹300 Crore Under PMEGP to Boost Self-Employment Across India

Mumbai, June 5, 2025: In a significant move to strengthen grassroots entrepreneurship, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, disbursed a margin money subsidy of ₹300 crore to 8,794 beneficiaries across India under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).

The subsidy disbursement—linked to loans worth ₹884 crore—was carried out virtually from the KVIC Central Office in Mumbai. KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar led the initiative, releasing funds in the presence of KVIC CEO Ms. Roop Rashi and senior officials.

“Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the PMEGP has become a powerful engine for self-reliance and entrepreneurship,” Shri Manoj Kumar said during the event. “Khadi and Village Industries today embody the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.”

The pan-India outreach of the scheme was evident in the regional allocations:

South Zone (Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry) received ₹80.26 crore for 2,445 projects.
Central Zone (Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand) secured ₹91.13 crore for 2,366 projects.
East and Northeast (Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura) collectively received ₹62.68 crore for 2,167 projects.
North Zone (Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Rajasthan) was allotted ₹41.80 crore for 1,320 projects.
Western Zone (Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa) saw ₹24.12 crore disbursed for 496 projects.

Since its inception, PMEGP has catalyzed the establishment of over 10.18 lakh micro-enterprises, generating more than 90 lakh direct and indirect jobs across India. As of FY 2024–25, the government has sanctioned loans amounting to ₹73,348.39 crore under the scheme, alongside margin money subsidies totaling ₹27,166.07 crore.

The event marks yet another milestone in the Government of India’s mission to enable sustainable livelihoods and entrepreneurship in both urban and rural sectors.
