Malaria Cases Surge Across Bodoland Following Early Monsoon Onset

Kokrajhar: A sudden spike in malaria cases has been reported across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) following the early arrival of the monsoon. Kokrajhar district alone has recorded 802 confirmed cases, while Chirang has registered 262 cases, prompting swift action from the Health Department.

The unseasonal rains and increased humidity have created favorable conditions for mosquito breeding, significantly contributing to the outbreak. Health officials have intensified vector control measures across affected areas, including fogging operations, larvicidal spraying, and door-to-door health screenings.

Special medical teams have been deployed in vulnerable zones, with local hospitals and health centers instructed to remain on high alert. Awareness campaigns are also being conducted to educate the public on malaria prevention and early symptom identification.

The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Health Department is closely monitoring the situation and has appealed to the public to cooperate with health workers and take precautionary measures such as using mosquito nets and eliminating stagnant water sources.

The authorities are confident that with continued vigilance and community participation, the spread of malaria can be brought under control in the coming weeks.
