Mega agriculture credit outreach campaign benefits over 250 participants in Mirza

GUWAHATI,June 6: Reinforcing its commitment to rural development, financial inclusion and sustainable economic growth, Central Bank of India’s regional office, organised a Nationwide mega agriculture credit outreach campaign at Mirza on Saturday. The programme covered all 57 branches under the region’s jurisdiction.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from farmers, Self-Help Group (SHG) members, rural entrepreneurs, customers and bank officials. More than 250 participants attended the programme, during which loan assistance worth Rs 47 crore was disbursed to eligible beneficiaries under various agriculture and livelihood-related schemes.

The campaign was inaugurated by Vivek Kumar, General Manager, Central Office, Central Bank of India, who attended as the chief guest. Among the other dignitaries present were Bhaskar Jyoti Kalita, CDC, Palasbari, Rajat Mishra, Zonal Head, Guwahati Zone and Sudip Kumar, Regional Head, Barpeta road region.

Besides extending credit support, the bank conducted Re-KYC updation drives, facilitated the opening of savings and current accounts, generated Unique Relationship Codes (URC), and carried out awareness activities under the “Aapki Punji, Aapka Adhikar” campaign.

Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries highlighted the importance of affordable credit in enhancing agricultural productivity, empowering women through SHGs, generating rural employment and promoting inclusive economic growth.

The campaign underscored Central Bank of India’s continued efforts to strengthen financial inclusion and ensure that formal banking services and benefits reach every corner of rural India.
