“Reminiscing the melodies of JP Das” by Sanskritika Mirza today

Guwahati,July 17: A summer music workshop, organized by Sanskritika Mirza, one of the leading cultural institution of Mirza under Palasbari LAC, was held from July 7 at Dakshin Kamrup College. The workshop featured training sessions in various traditional and classical music forms including Borgeet, Bongeet, Kamrupi Lokgeet, Naokhel Geet, western classical vocal, and flute performance.
Approximately 48 participants received hands-on training under the guidance of renowned musicians and instructors. Noted Assamese folk artist Banshidhar Das conducted sessions on Kamrupi Lokgeet, Dr. Naren Das trained participants in Bongeet, Sukumar Medhi in Naokhel Geet, and Queen Hazarika offered guidance in Western classical vocal music. Pawan Rabha and Niren Rabha provided flute training, while Kabindra Patuwari and Sarveshwar Kalita conducted Borgeet sessions.
The concluding ceremony of the workshop will held today at 1 PM at the auditorium of Dakshin Kamrup College, Mirza, in collaboration with the college.
As a mark of tribute to the pioneer of Assamese modern music and has been actively contributing to the field for approximately six decades, Jyoti Prakash Das also known as JP Das, a special musical program titled “Reminiscing the Melodies of JP Das” will also be organized during the event.
Workshop certificates will be distributed to all participants during the closing ceremony, said organizer Kushal Mirza.
