Former Chief Minister of Assam and founder president of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), Prafulla Kumar Mahanta on April 18th, 2019 skipped from casting his vote in the ongoing second phase of Lok Sabha elections. Jayashree Mahanta, wife of Prafulla, too didn’t exercise her franchise.
The polling is underway in Silchar, Karimganj, Mangaldai, Autonomous District (ST) and Nagaon constituencies on April 18th, 2019.
“I didn’t cast my vote today as I am against the Citizenship Bill. The Bill is going to bring a disaster in Assam. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was made aware of the issues concerning the Bill but still, he is pushing for the passage of the Bill. The incumbent government is denying the fact that the Bill will destroy Assam,” he said.
