With 1100 students raising the slogan of “Seuji Dhora Binondiya Sundor Swaystha Jugomia”, Assam state Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday inaugurated the North Lakhimpur Medical College by planting saplings in the college premises.
Inaugurating the medical college, Sarma said, “The government has taken a pledge to plant saplings in both sides of the houses and roads constructed by PWD in the coming years. We have also decided to plant saplings in all the six medical colleges which are under construction and therefore we have started the initiative with the Lakhimpur medical college itself.”
The Minister also said that the government is planning to open the medical college December 31, 2020. He also requested the students to plant a sapling in their respective birthdays.
While answering to a query regarding union PWD Minister’s allegation regarding land acquisition, Sarma said that he has not discussed anything with the union PWD minister regarding the same and that there arises problem in Biswanath Chariali regarding land acquisition.
