GUWAHATI, Nov 28 – The Assam Public Works (APW) has lodged an FIR with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Guwahati, against the former State Coordinator of National Register of Citizens (NRC) alleging large-scale financial misappropriation of public funds during the update process of the registry.
The FIR was lodged by Rajib Deka of the APW. The FIR has alleged large-scale financial embezzlement in the name of salaries paid to the retired government officials and teachers who were roped in by the Office of the NRC Coordinator to facilitate the update exercise.
The APW also demanded investigation into the procurement process related to laptops and electric generators, which it claimed, were bought at higher prices than the prevalent market price.(Assam Tribune)
