In a joint operation launched by Pengeri Police and Army at Tinsukia, a United Liberation Front of Assam (Independent) (ULFA-I) cadre has been arrested on Wednesday night.
The ULFA cadre has been identified as Raktim Gogoi alias Bakhar Axom. Police informed that Gogoi hails from the Mugong Pathar Village under Pengeri Police Station in Tinsukia. It may also be mentioned that on Wednesday night two IEDs were recovered from two places in Guwahati- Panbazaar and Paltan Bazaar.
Police suspected that the IEDs were placed by ULFA ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kokrajhar on February 7. However, the IEDs have been diffused by the bomb squad.
