Manipur’s Joya Sapam wins IAWA Miss India 2020

GUWAHATI: Joya Sapam won the IAWA Miss India 2020 and made a history for Manipur.

Joya Sapam became the first Manipuri to win the IAWA Miss India, 2020 which was held virtually, due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, from 10th September to 20th September 2020. She has also won the most coveted subtitles: IAWA Miss Catwalk and IAWA Miss Photogenic.

Eighteen years old, Joya is currently pursuing BA in Arts and is the second child of Rajen Sapam and Ulfat Chishti Sapam, Khongjom Sapam Mayai Leikai, Thoubal district.

She also holds the titles of Beautiful Face at Sunsilk Mega Miss North East, 2019 and IAWA Supermodel Media Icon, 2020.

IAWA MISS INDIA is an Indian pageant that provides a platform that encompasses an incredible voyage and get to experience a pageant like never before.

“We provide a platform in modeling and acting with the support of NGO IAWA,” IAWA said in a release.

IAWA India has established itself as an organization with intense value and consistency based on the foundation of inclusion and network of support to boost and mould you into a humanistic icon.

According to reports, over 600 women from across India had contested for this beauty pageant. Several tasks with deadlines were given to participants along with a grooming session from July 20 to August 2.
