The wholesale fish and meat markets inside Bara Bazaar (Iewduh) here have been granted the permission to reopen since their closure following the first nationwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner today allowed the reopening of the wholesale fish and meat markets at Iewduh from November 9. They are among the largest wholesale markets in the region.
The notification, however, sought strict compliance with the protocols issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department within these markets.
Meanwhile, 86 new cases of COVID-19 and 91 recoveries have been reported in Meghalaya during the past 24 hours. With this, the State has now 984 active cases.
In all, 91 persons have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in the State.
