SHILLONG, Jan 30: The delayed elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) will be held on April 9. The GHADC has been under the Administrator’s Rule since the expiry of its five-year term on October 8 last year. The State Government, however, delayed the polls due to the pandemic.
The polls will be held on the scheduled day from 7 am to 4 pm. Counting of votes will take place on April 14. Filing of nomination papers will begin on March 8 and end on March 15. Scrutiny of nominations papers will be taken up on March 15. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 19.
The draft electoral rolls will be published on February 4. The last date for filing of claims and objections is February 18. An estimated amount of Rs 15 crore will be required to conduct the polls.
According to a Cabinet decision, the poll notification will be issued on March 8 and immediately, the model code of conduct will come into force.
