LIVA Miss Diva Supranational 2020 Aavriti Choudhary is all set to compete among 60 beauty queens from around the world while representing India at Miss Supranational 2021.
This pageant will be held on August 21 in Poland. “It was supposed to happen last year in November. To realise that there’s a possibility that the pageant might go virtual amid the pandemic and I might not even have this experience was quite disheartening. But now, I’m so happy and excited to be able to represent my country the way I wanted,” says the 23-year-old diva from Jabalpur, who will be competing in the National Costume as well as Swimsuit and Evening Gown contests, which will be a part of the preliminary competition.
With a Bachelor’s in Business Administration degree, Aavriti ventured into modelling a couple of years ago. She has been associated with some of India’s renowned designers and has also been a part of fashion weeks. She even featured on the cover of Femina Magazine. Amid the pandemic, Aavriti associated with the Robinhood Army to contribute food to migrant workers and underprivileged children. “It was the peak of the pandemic when I went out in the slums of my hometown and we distributed food kits. Even when I came back to Mumbai, I continued doing it because I felt that it was the need of the hour.”
Mind Matters, Aavriti’s ground up project at Miss Supranational, revolves around mental health. She says, “Through my project, I want to break the stigma around mental health by making people understand that it’s just as important as their physical health. I plan to create specific support groups where people can openly talk about their struggles without the fear of judgement.”
Flaunting her curls, the diva is sure to impress the judges with her style. “I’m looking forward to the ‘Supra Model of the Year’ contest, which is a part of the pageant. Normally, when you’re modelling, you get to wear designer clothes, but here I’ll be showcasing my personal style to everyone around the world. I hope people back home support me in this journey,” says Aavriti.
What makes her outfits stand apart is how well they represent India. “We’ve weaved in inspiration from the five elements — space, wind, fire, water and earth. Each element is interpreted through the colour palette, silhouettes and use of fabric and textures,” says Bharat Gupta, lead pageant stylist. Aavriti is thrilled to be presenting the creations of some of the top and gen-next designers contributing to her wardrobe. “Some of the leading industry experts and Miss India Organization worked together to curate my wardrobe. Kresha Bajaj has designed my exquisite finale gown, and my national costume is from Suneet Varma. I am grateful to Abhishek Sharma, Mandira Wirk, Nidhi Yasha, House of Three, Maya, Nima and Lavanya Coodly, who were instrumental in curating my personalised ensemble,” she says, adding, “From outfits to accessories, each look is unique, and I can’t wait to wear them for everyone to see the design expertise of our talented designers.”
With two Miss Supranational victories in Asha Bhat (2014) and Srinidhi Shetty (2016), who are leading names in the entertainment industry today, our pageant winners have made the country proud with their presence on the global map. We wish Aavriti the best of luck to make us proud in the 12th edition of Miss Supranational.
