The body of an eight-year-old girl, who went missing on the day of Holi, was found in a mutilated condition in a drain, in the Banka district of Bihar.
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Premchand Singh said that four people have been taken into custody so far. “All the accused will be arrested very soon. No one will be spared. The police have registered a case on the written application of the deceased girl’s uncle and the body has been sent to Banka for autopsy,” he said.
The incident has sent shock waves across the state. It is said to be more frightening than Delhi’s Nirbhaya case. The police said the condition of the body indicated that the girl was brutally gang-raped.
On the day of Holi, the girl left her house to meet her friends. However, she suddenly disappeared from near a temple. After a lot of searching, the family finally went to the police to lodge a missing complaint.
Meanwhile, the eight-year-old’s friend told the police that while they were playing near the temple, a red auto-rikshaw abducted the girl and escaped.
Based on the information, the police came across the profile of a man, identified as Sagar Soni, who is a painter and drives a red-coloured auto-rikshaw.
The police also found the details of another suspect who had been absconding after the incident. The police then detained his wife for questioning. Based on the information provided by the suspect’s wife, the police detained four people, including two auto drivers.
