Former NLFB Militants Killed In Encounter In Chirang

Two NLFB militants were gunned down in an encounter by the police at Khungring in Assam’s Chirang district.

As per reports, the police team visited the spot to nab the most wanted militant during which an exchange of firing took place. Meanwhile, several militants reportedly managed to flee the spot during the gunbattle. Unfortunately, an additional superintendent of police was also injured in the firing between police and militants.

The deceased have been identified as Mahanta Narzary, a former member of NLFB, and Raja Boro.
Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) G P Singh appreciated the team and posted on Twitter, ”Valiant action by Additional SP @chirangpolice Sri Prakash Medhi. Despite receiving a bullet injury, he & his team neutralised two criminals after a heavy exchange of fire in Runikhata, Chirang early this morning. @assampolice is proud of you.”
