On Wednesday, hundreds of delivery partners(Riders) belonging to the food delivery app, Zomato protested in Guwahati’s Chachal Dharna Ground demanding their incentives be hiked.
The protestors warned the company that if the incentives are not hiked, they will shut down their services in Guwahati.
“We are working fulltime in Zomato as delivery partners. We work for around 12-14 hours a day and we are somehow earning our livelihood. Even the pertrol price is too high this days, it has been almost impossible for us to continue our work, but still we were managing and working. Recently, Zomato changed our earning system from incentive per delivery to GIG.
After working for a few days, we have seen that the earnings we are recieving from the GIG system is too less and we will not be able to continue our services if Zomato doesnot change it immediately,” said Mina Devi, a Zomato Rider.
Devi added, “I also urge our government to support us in this matter as hundreds of youth are currently into this delivery work and if this is not settled immediately, all of us will be unemployed soon. We are in big trouble and we need help.”
