Jorhat deputy commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman has been selected for the ‘Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration’ for his role in successful implementation of Central Government’s programme for ‘Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana’ (SAUBHAGYA) in Darrang district in 2019 in the group: North East and Hills States.
A district administration official informed that Barman has been intimated by a letter secretary, Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, that he had been selected for the said award for his “valuable contribution with commitment and dedicated efforts” made towards achieving best performance in the North East and Hills States category.
The award, instituted to acknowledge, recognise and reward exemplary work done by civil servants across the country, will be conferred by the Prime Minister in New Delhi on April 21 on the occasion of National Civil Services Day.
The letter stated that the award was instituted to encourage constructive competition, innovation, replication and institutionalisation of best practices.
