Hailakandi, June 24: Minister for Transport, Fisheries and Excise Parimal Suklabaidya on Friday visited various relief camps in the flood affected areas of Hailakandi.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Rohan Kumar Jha and other officials of the administration, Suklabaidya, who is also the Guardian Minister of Hailakandi, visited the relief camps set up by the administration to take stock of the condition of the flood affected people.
On reaching the camps, the Minister inspected the various facilities with special focus on safe drinking water and medical facilities at those camps.
He directed the Deputy Commissioner to ensure proper hygienic environment in the camps to keep diseases at bay.
Suklabaidya also interacted with the affected people and assured all possible support from the government towards their rehabilitation.
He also partook the food being served at the relief camps and asked the Deputy Commissioner to ensure hot quality food.
More than 50,000 people have been hit by the deluge in South Assam’s Hailakandi district.
