Transport department commissioner and secretary to the Government of Assam Adil Khan on Tuesday served a show-cause notice to Kamrup metro district transport officer (DTO) Gautam Das for his gross failure in tackling irregularities prevailing in the DTO’s office premises.
Notably, commissioner Khan on Tuesday made a sudden visit to the Kamrup metro DTO office, located at the city’s Betkuchi area along NH 37. During his visit, only 21 out of 42 employees were said to be present.
The show-cause notice served to DTO Das said, “When subordinate officers or staff are found to be absent without authorisation, you have not taken any steps to assure their punctuality. Visitors experience inconvenience as a result and services that must be delivered on time are delayed.”
The notice further said, “You have failed to make service delivery transparent and accountable in your office resulting in the general public gathering in your office to get their work done even though the majority of services are now online or contactless.”
DTO Das is asked to reply within the next ten days.
