Greenery Of Karbi Anglong Mesmerises Bollywood Actor Zeenat Aman

 Former fashion model and former Femina Miss India and Miss Asia Pacific International  Zeenat Aman on Tuesday attended the World Tourism Day programme organised by the Tourism department, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).

The day was celebrated at Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe) Town Hall on the evening of September 26 here.

The actress and former fashion model was invited by the Tourism department, KAAC to grace the occasion as an invited guest with the objective of promoting Karbi Anglong tourism at the higher level.

Two other persons Isabell Daniel from International Rootbride Foundation, Germany and Shiraj Henry, Bollywood director joined the celebration.

The Karbi Anglong Tourism Department welcomed and felicitated Aman with Karbi traditional turban (poho) and a bouquet.

Addressing the gathering the former model and actor said, “I am very happy to participate in the World Tourism Day to celebrate tourism of Karbi Anglong. Karbi Anglong is a stunt by just seeing the beauty of the place and I wish my film fraternity to come here to witness the very beauty of the place.”

She also said, “There is beautiful greenery, forest, flora and fauna, rivers and hills and every one will want to come here. The people are peaceful and close to nature. Most important is the smiling and happy faces of the people, which is unbelievable.”

“I love seeing the culture and dance and love you in finding all the varied and rich culture and tradition of this area,” the former Bollywood actor said.

Inaugurating the celebration the chief executive member, KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang said that the Tourism department of KAAC is fortunate to have one of the renowned actress and Miss Asia Pacific International Zeenat Aman in the celebration.

He said that tourism is one of the most important economic sectors in the world that gives livelihood to thousands of people. The CEM also said that due to Covid-19 pandemic the flow of tourism was affected in several countries.

The CEM also said the world heritage site Kaziranga National Park is famous for its one horned rhino. Legend says Kaziranga came from the Karbi legendary name Kajir Ronghangpi, who predominantly lived in the area.

Informing the guests about the place, the CEM said that Karbi Anglong is endowed with hills, rivers, birds, waterfalls and different culture, songs and dance. The Karbi Youth Festival celebrated in the month of February attracted thousands of people and tourists from outside. The KAAC has taken up various projects for the development of the culture centre.

Terming tourism as one of the solutions for unemployment, the CEM urged the educated youths to take up various services as sources of employment.

The CEM also launched the official android mobile application of Karbi Anglong Tourism.

The students of Karbi Traditional Music, Culture & Research Institute performed Karbi cultural dance Nimso Kerung in front of the audience. Local artists Akangsha Enghipi and Deepti Tokbipi also performed some of the numbers of Zeenat Aman like Dum Maro Dum, Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko, Laila Ho Laila and Ab Baat Banjaye.
