Born and bought up in the beautiful south city of Hyderabad, Urmila Chauhan has always been an enthusiast. She is a seeker of all that she believes in, from conquering the skies to visualising winning the prestigious national pageant of Miss India. The need to live a story worthwhile has been her passion.
Being a young, independent and talented woman, she’s been a frequent flyer since she turned 18, exploring and learning about the world, and spends days flying through the skies as a flight attendant. A nurturer by heart, she finds solace in fulfilling the responsibilities of her job. Her interests include gardening, painting, horse riding, watching tv, travelling, and crafting.

Your motto in life: Before going to sleep every night, forgive everyone and sleep with a clean heart.
The most influential person in your life: Everyone who has touched my life has made me who I am today. But my mum is the most creative influence in my life. I owe my flair for the dramatic and appreciation for the finer things in life to her. She taught me to forgive quickly, value family, laugh often, learn from others and respect everyone.
The proudest moment of your life: One of my proudest moments was when I rescued a man onboard who suffered an attack by giving CPR and when I received my wings to fly high.
Words that best define your personality: Down to earth, yet flying high.
The beauty queen that inspires you the most and why: Sushmitha Sen. The first Indian woman to win Miss Universe in 1994, Sushmita Sen is brilliant and quick-witted. When she said the excellent quote. “I don’t like the word sacrifice or compromise”. This has really inspired me so much.

What does Femina Miss India mean to you: Home, a place where I can GO. I see it as a place where I deserve to be.
A social cause close to your heart and why: Spread cancer awareness. My mom was diagnosed with cancer in the early stages and won the battle. So I would like to spread awareness regarding the cure at the early stages.
One unique thing about your culture/state: The most exciting and unique thing about our state is the diversity of Hyderabadi people. We have a rich nijam culture and Telangana culture mixed into our everyday lifestyle. It makes the food, jewellery, and clothing of our state very unique. Hyderabad has been ranked the best city consecutively for three years. People from all over the country live here.
The craziest rumour you ever heard about yourself: Rumour by my parents that I was found in the dustbin 🙁
Three qualities that every woman must possess: Confident, strong-hearted and hard working
What are your expectations from Femina Miss India 2023: I expect Miss India to help me in future to serve the needful.
If you win Miss India, what would be your first big splurge: Certain thing worth splurging on is education, and since I’m down to earth, I don’t spend lavishly. Makeup is an exception.

If you were granted one wish, what would you ask for: May all my further wishes come true, will be my one wish.
What would be your advice for the future generation: Don’t be afraid of trying something new or different, and don’t give up when things don’t go as planned. Remember to be kind to yourself along the way, learn from mistakes, work hard at your goals and be determined. You will be surprised at what you can do when you believe in yourself and empathise with everyone.
