Shillong Literary Festival back with third edition, offers engaging conversations, book launches

The third edition of the Shillong Literary Festival has commenced, offering compelling discussions and book launches at the serene venue of Wards Lake in Shillong, Meghalaya, India. Launched on November 14, the festival was graced by Chief Guest Paul Lyngdoh, Cabinet Minister overseeing Arts & Culture, Social Welfare, Textiles, and Tourism Departments, and Guest of Honour Ampareen Lyngdoh, Cabinet Minister responsible for Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare, Health, Family Welfare, Information, Public Relations, and Law Departments.

During the event’s initial phase, an intriguing session featuring Janice Pariat and Cheryl Rynjah, delving into “Everything the Light Touches,” captivated attendees. The festival’s inaugural day was further enriched by the addition of music, lending it a distinctive allure.

Addressing the audience, Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh highlighted the government’s earnest efforts to create additional opportunities, outlets, and platforms. Dr. Vijay Kumar D, Commissioner and Secretary of the Meghalaya government, expressed optimism about festivals and tourism becoming significant drivers of growth for the state while actively engaging the youth.

Scheduled to conclude on November 16, the three-day festival promises attendees engaging conversations, book readings, and book launches.
