IIIT Guwahati celebrates annual Rongali Bihu festival BOHAGI 2024

8th April, 2024 Guwahati: The Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati (IIITG) celebrated the fourth edition of BOHAGI, its annual Rongali Bihu festival on 7th April 2024 at the IIITG campus near Tech City, Bongora. The main objective of the event was to promote the cultural festival of Assam among the students, faculties, staff, and their family members from various states of India. Students from different colleges of Assam participated in the cultural competitions organized by IIITG Cultural Boardwhich strengthened the “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” initiative and increased cultural interaction in the academic community.

 

BOHAGI 2024 helped to enrich the knowledge about the Folk Culture and of the Trends and Traditions of Assam, with a special focus on North Eastern Art and Culture. The celebration had the resonance of Dhul, Pepa, Gogona, and Bahi that inspired the young minds to imbibe the values embedded in regional culture and traditions.

 

The festival hosted Jeng Bihu Competition and Modern Assamese Solo Dance Competition in which the winners were felicitated with prize, cash reward, and certificates. Kamrupa Flair- a showcase of traditional attires of different ethnic communities of Assam with fashion and tradition was done by the institute students. Pitha Palate event salted with the swad of Pitha and other traditional delicacies of Bihu and Bihu Husori assimilated the flavor of tradition and spirituality. One of the major attractions was the performance by renowned melodious Vocal Artists of

Assam, Dikshu. He performed at the Musical Night to mesmerize the crowd with his scintillating voice.
