In a significant move to bolster public safety, Assam Police and other law enforcement agencies have intensified their efforts following the discovery of suspected explosive devices in the state just ahead of Independence Day.

Special Director General of Police (DGP) Harmeet Singh confirmed the discovery, stating that “bomb-like objects” had been found, triggering an immediate and robust response from the authorities.

To address the potential threat, Special Investigation Teams (SITs) have been swiftly constituted under the leadership of an Additional Superintendent of Police (SP). These teams have been charged with conducting a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the nature of the devices and to bring those responsible to justice.

“Our foremost duty is to ensure the safety and security of the people of Assam,” said Special DGP Singh. “In response to this discovery, we held an urgent review meeting to devise the most effective strategies moving forward. Let me be clear: anyone who seeks to harm the citizens of this state will face severe consequences.”
