Guwahati, October 18: Team Assam Forest achieved notable success at the All India Forest Sports Meet (AIFSM) 2024, taking place from October 16 to 20 in Chhattisgarh.
Urmila Buragohain, a Forest Guard from the Kamrup West Division, earned a bronze medal in the 45-49 kg weightlifting category, showcasing both her strength and the dedication of Assam’s forest personnel to sports excellence.
This success reflects the Assam Forest Department’s commitment to fostering athletic talent and promoting physical fitness among its staff. The department celebrated their achievements on X, stating, “Medal winners from Team Assam Forest at AIFSM 2024, Day 1: Urmila Buragohain, Kamrup West Division, Bronze in Weightlifting (45-49 kg).”
Madhumita Gogoi, a constable from the 3rd Assam Forest Protection Force (AFPF), also secured a bronze medal in the 49-55 kg weight category. Her accomplishment underscores the growing emphasis on physical fitness within the forest staff.
The Assam Forest Department congratulated her, saying, “Madhumita Gogoi, Constable, 3rd AFPF – Bronze in Weightlifting (49-55 kg). Congratulations! More power to Team Assam.”
