New Delhi, October 18: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced significant changes to the format of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025, notably discontinuing the option to select questions in Section B.

The official examination website was launched by the NTA on Thursday, alongside a separate notification confirming the removal of the choice-based questions in Section B. This flexibility, originally introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowed students to skip or select questions. However, students appearing for JEE Main 2025 will now be required to attempt all five questions in Section B without any option to choose.

“The optional question selection was introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic to reduce pressure on students during unprecedented times,” the NTA clarified in its statement. “With the WHO declaring the end of COVID-19 as a public health emergency on May 5, 2023, we are reverting to the original exam structure.”

Starting with JEE Main 2025, Section B will consist of five mandatory questions per subject for Paper 1 (B.E./B. Tech), Paper 2A (B. Arch), and Paper 2B (B. Planning), with no option for selection.

The NTA also confirmed that the application process for the first phase of JEE Main 2025 will begin soon, with further details to be announced on the official website.
