264 poachers & 300 timber smugglers surrenders on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti

As many as 264 poachers and over 300 timber smugglers surrendered in Assam on October 2. The state government is giving each of them a rehabilitation package with immediate relief of Rs 50,000 each, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed through a Tweet.
“Dawn of new era for wildlife & forest conservation. Thanks to BTC Admin, 264 poachers surrendered at Chirang with arms & animal trophies. They’re getting a rehab package with immediate relief of ₹50K each. 300 + timber smugglers also surrendered in presence of BTR Chief @PramodBoroBTR”, tweeted CM Sarma.
“What could be more satisfying than this.
Under the visionary guidance of HCM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and leadership of Hon’ble CEM Pramod Boro we are marching fast towards a peaceful BTR.
On this auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, more than 500 poachers and timber smugglers surrendered their arms and equipment today.
I heartily welcome their decision. Let’s work together for the peace and progress of the region,” BTC EM Wilson Hasda Tweeted.
