A Historic Day for Assam, A Defining Moment for Upper Assam
Today marks a truly historic chapter in Assam’s journey of development and decentralised governance as Hon’ble Union Home Minister Amit Shah ji visits our state on a day-long programme of immense strategic and cultural significance.
The laying of the foundation stone of Assam’s second Legislative Assembly building in Dibrugarh is not just an infrastructure milestone, it is a powerful statement. With the BJP-led government’s decision to develop Dibrugarh as the second capital of Assam, Upper Assam moves to the centre of administrative, political and economic focus. This visionary step reflects long-term planning and respect for regional balance.
Along with this, the inauguration of Phase I of Khanikar Stadium will strengthen sports infrastructure and open new opportunities for our youth, while the foundation of the Wildlife Research Institute underscores Assam’s commitment to conservation and scientific research.
The visit also carries deep cultural resonance. Shri Amit Shah ji’s participation in the 10th Mishing Cultural Festival at Kareng Chapori, Dhemaji, highlights the Centre’s recognition of the Mishing community’s heritage and aspirations. Culture, identity and development are moving together.
In the evening, his interaction with BJP karyakartas and office bearers in Guwahati will further energise the organisation ahead of the coming electoral challenges.
None of this would have been possible without the strong leadership, clarity of vision and relentless dedication of Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. His commitment to Upper Assam and its infrastructure, culture, governance and future stands clearly reflected in every decision taken today.
This is not politics as usual. This is nation-building, state-building and people-first governance.
Assam is moving forward. Upper Assam is rising. And the journey has only begun.
